Day # 4 of making recycled paper.

October 21, 2011

Dear Students/Parents/Caretakers:

After several days of making our own paper from recyclable newspapers we are expecting to see the end result of our FIRST BATCH of paper by Monday. It should be dry by then. As I explained to the students this is only our first batch. Our plan is to document the process changing one variable at a time every time we make a new batch. We must take into consideration different variables such as: amount of days and color among others that we might come out with on the spot. The idea is to document the whole process and see which batch is better based on the different variables. We would analyze texture, thickness, function, purpose, etc. We would be collecting this data to create our own process of papermaking and analyze the results with similar processes.  Ask the students if they remember the steps and the materials that we used. Attached you will find some pictures taken by Geronimo & Nina. We will keep you up to date with the process, which we are planning to post after we are able to see our end result.
